Proof of Bank Account Ownership

Payment of recognised claim is made to creditor’s account held with a credit institution, payment institution or electronic money institution (hereinafter — institution) indicated by creditor in the application.

In order for ABLV Bank, AS in liquidation (hereinafter — the Company) to verify the account ownership, creditor should submit one of the following documents:

  • formal proper notice from an institution attesting to creditor’s ownership of the account (original hard copy of the notice bearing a signature of institution’s employee, or electronically issued notice from a credit institution registered in the Republic of Latvia signed with a secure electronic signature, e.g., in an edoc format);
  • account statement / account summary issued by an institution (original hard copy of the account statement / account summary bearing a signature of institution’s employee, or electronically issued notice from a credit institution registered in the Republic of Latvia signed with a secure electronic signature, e.g., in an edoc format);
  • automatically generated account statement / account summary bearing a reference of being valid without signature;
  • account statement / account summary printed by a creditor from an online banking system in the presence of Company’s employee and certified by Company’s employee with a signature, and bearing a remark on being printed in his/her presence and date of certification;
  • loan agreement concluded between creditor and an institution (original hard copy of a loan agreement bearing a signature and/or a stamp of institution’s employee);
  • escrow account agreement concluded between creditor and an institution (original hard copy of an escrow account agreement bearing a signature and/or a stamp of institution’s employee);
  • account agreement concluded between creditor and an institution (original hard copy of an account agreement bearing a signature and/or a stamp of institution’s employee);
  • payment order (original hard copy of an order bearing a signature and/or a stamp of institution’s employee).

Documents attesting to account ownership can be submitted in person at Company’s main office at 7 Skanstes Street, Building 1, Riga or by sending original hard copies of documents by mail. Employees of the Company make copies of the documents in accordance with the procedure set forth by the Company. Document attesting to account ownership made in an electronic form can be submitted via client’s online banking system.

Documents attesting to account ownership should be in Latvian, Russian or English and contain creditor’s name and at least one of the following identification data:

  • registration number / personal identity number / date of birth;
  • identity document details (series and number of identification document);
  • address.

In order to ensure smooth legal process between the Company and creditor, creditor should inform the Company immediately about any changes in creditor’s banking details provided for payout of recognised claim and submit appropriate documents attesting to account ownership.
