ABLV Invitation Golf Tournament has taken place

Riga, Latvia, July 9, 2014, 14:42 / Banking

On Saturday, 5th of July, in Ozo Golf Club, ABLV Invitation Golf Tournament 2014 took place. 96 golfers participated in the tournament, including Latvian and foreign clients, business partners, ABLV employees and some Ozo Golf Club members — our potential clients.

The tournament was held according to the Rules of Gold issued by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St.Andrews, separately for women and men. The score was calculated by the Stableford system. Since male golfers of different levels were competing, they were divided into two handicap* groups. The women were competing without division.

The winners of the tournament were awarded the glass cup, created by a designer and an artist working with glass, Anda Munkevice. The golfers who performed the longest and shortest strokes were also awarded.

The tournament winners were:

  • Andris Filimonovs — men in HCP from 0 to 15;
  • Mihails Belenickijs — men in HCP from 16 to 36;
  • Aija Veisa among women.

This time nobody got the prize Hole in One (getting the golf ball into the cup N.13 with just one stroke) — the ABLV VISA Platinum credit card with EUR 10 000. According to the tournament regulations, women stroke the ball from the distance of 90 m, men hit the ball from the distance of 120 m. The closest to win the prize was Armands Puče, his ball stopped 50 cm from the hole, but Armands is the tournament judge, therefore the prize for the closest stroke was awarded to Evgenijs Kidanovs with the best result of 1.27 m from the hole.

During the tournament, the Ozo Gold Club trainer was teaching the nuances of playing golf to beginners and showed the techniques of hitting the ball.

“This has been already the sixth tournament organized by ABLV Bank. This private event by bank’s invitation only and the level of organization have brought this tournament to a high level. Now it has become acknowledged among golfers. We hope to attract more foreign clients next year,” the honorary Head of the Tournament Committee and dCEO Vadims Reinfelds said.
