One of the largest children’s playgrounds in Riga being installed

This week, installation of the first playground and improvement of the adjacent area have begun in the Esplanade Park behind the National Museum of Art. It will be the largest children’s playground in central Riga and among the largest in the city. The playground is meant for children up to 6 years of age; it will feature a multifunctional game complex for children, a merry-go-round, a seesaw, a hut and three different spring swings. All facilities comply with the European Union security standards EN 1176. At the same time, the park area adjacent to the playground will be improved — pavements made, greenery renovated, children’s benches and a new sand box will be arranged, the park benches will be renewed and new litter bins installed. The total investment of Aizkraukles banka in this project exceeds 31,000 lats.

Example for public private partnership

Janis Birks, deputy chairman of Riga City Council: «I am satisfied with the support of private businessmen to improvement of urban environment. Although this year the city has started arranging more than one dozen of children’s playgrounds, it is not enough, and the bank’s donation earned praise as it showed how to make it possible by common efforts for little Rigans to have a good time in a safe and pleasant environment. Hopefully, Aizkraukles banka’s support will serve as an example of public private partnership for other businesses of Riga and will develop across Latvia.»

Future of this country is in the hands of its children

Olegs Fils, co-owner and deputy chairman of the board of Aizkraukles Banka: «How our children grow up and develop will have a direct impact on the future of this country. Making and donating the playgrounds to Riga City is another step for implementation of Aizkraukles banka’s corporate and social policy and continues public private partnership projects.»
